People with disabilities often suffer a ‘civil death’ due to exclusion primarily related to physical barriers of the built environment. AXS Map is building a social movement around inclusion for people with physical disabilities. AXS Map is a crowd-sourced platform for mapping wheelchair accessibility of buildings and places, and sharing that information across a network. At its core, AXS Map is a tool for creating social inclusion for people with disabilities, and bringing mobility freedom to this minority group historically excluded. As the AXS Map data base grows AXS Map will become a tool for visualizing data on wheelchair accessibility in buildings, documenting the success and/or failures of policy and codes across different geographies.
