Shortly after the events of 9/11, a group of NYC women came together in protest of the Bush Administration's use of the terror attacks to justify war. Seeking out a new form of political protest, the women decided to respond to what they believed were the absurd reactions of Bush by attaching paper maché missile "dicks" and demonstrating in public. Each woman parades herself as a "patriotic, war-mongering super-villian" while singing revised pop hits that mock current political and social issues in the U.S.

Since 2002, the Missile Dick Chicks have held these parodied performances throughout the country at conventions and major landmarks. Working steadily between the years 2002-2008, their gigs have since slowed down. A musical documentary was released about the group in 2009.

Borrowing from the Supremes' hit, "Stop in the Name of Love" is the Missile Dick Chicks', "SHOP! In the Name of War":

Shop! in the Name of War

Shop! in the Name of War
You need a whole lot more
Don't think it over

Think of it as your civic duty
Our SUVs need that oil booty
Without the taxes on your consumer billions
Uncle Sam can't afford to bomb civilians
So don't fear, grab your credit card and stay calm
That brand-new car will buy a lot of Napalm

Don't think it over / Don't think it over
Shop in the Name of War / You need a whole lot more
Shop in the Name of War / You need a whole lot more
Don't think it over / Don't think it over
