Typing…SYRIA is a one month socio-artistic performance piece where any individual can subscribe to witness a WhatsApp conversation between two Syrian characters play out in real time.

This performance piece addresses questions of voyeurism, the ethics of witnessing and the role of media’s “gaze” towards the Syrian experience in light of the civil conflict. It also utilizes a platform that allows for social engagement and prolonged exposure, aiming to not only be socially conscious, but also to truly harmonize the goals of the project with its chosen medium.
