Born in Nigeria in 1975, Péju Alatise, is a multimedia artist focusing on the experience of women and girls, particularly in her native country but with resonance across the world.
Missing (2014), by Peju Alatise, is a series of panels featuring silhouettes of girls against Ankara fabrics, in which some panels are themselves missing. The piece was made in response to the kidnapping of 276 girls from Chibok (Nigeria) by Boko Haram that same year. Though this incident caught international media attention, it has been an ongoing problem. It aims to denounce both the violence enacted against these girls, as well as the failures of the Nigerian government in finding and retrieving them.

Timeframe For change

This project seems to be part of a campaign with a clear short-term goal. Short-term goals tend to be things like: create or repeal a law; get a President impeached; make the city administration repair a sidewalk. A campaign with a short-term goal needs a clear theory of change, complete with targets that can be cajoled or pressured into effecting the goal.
