Gum Election
Gum Election is a guerilla art project which started in New York City in October 2008. It encouraged people to vote during the presidential election in 2008 and also not to spit out their chewing gum carelessly on New York Cities already dirty streets. Now the Gum Election is back and New Yorkers are voting again “who’s sucking the most”.
Right before the presidential elections in Mexico, planned for July of 2012, a local software enterprise has developed a smart-phone game that shows how to commit fraud at the elections.
In France, abstention, vote of protest, lassitude or violent reactions rise from all over the crisis of our "representative democracy ».
What about thinking the other way round ? What if we reappropriate the iconography of the election?
Vermin Supreme is an American performance artist, anarchist and activist who is known for running as an alternative candidate in various local, state, and national elections in the United States since 1988. Supreme is known for wearing a boot shaped hat and carrying a large toothbrush. Vermin Supreme's four-plank platform is simple, yet elegant:
1) Mandatory tooth-brushing laws.
2) Zombie preparedness.
