ParaSITE: Custom built inflatable shelters designed for homeless people that attach to the exterior outtake vents of a building’s Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system. The warm air leaving the building simultaneously inflates and heats the double membrane structure.
It's this symbolism and the characters that repeatedly appear in Haring's work that provide the backbone of an exhibition opening March 16, 2018 at the Albertina Museum in Vienna. On view through June 24, 2018, "Keith Haring. The Alphabet," comprises 100 of the artist's works, from subway art and drawings to sculptures and paintings.
Girl Be Heard is a theatre company founded by Artistic Director, Ashley Marinaccio and Executive Director, Jessica Greer Morris, which melds talent and background to create social justice theatre. The company has performed throughout New York City and worldwide to tackle global issues. Their productions include 9mm America, a Theatrical Uprising Against Violence, Girlpower: Survival of the Fittest, Trafficked, Project Girl: Congo, and Child Bride.
Identity/Identidad was included in The Disappeared exhibition at the El Museo Del Barrio from February 23rd to June 17th 2007. However, this project was exhibited over a long period of time at numerous different locations.
Reversing decades of discrimination set into place when New Deal labor laws intentionally excluded domestic workers, New York State in 2010 passed the very first Domestic Workers Bill of Rights. Hawaii and California followed soon after with other states soon to follow.
