Water Is Life 2 Favorite 

The Overpass Light Brigade (Milwaukee, WI), has been working with Idle No More (WI) in order to give visibility to the cultural and environmental costs of opening up Northern Wisconsin to iron mining. The proposal will soon be voted on and likely passed by the conservative Wisconsin legislature which has been purchased by the Gogebic Mining Company. The proposed mine will be a vast open pit, upriver from the Bad River Ojibwe's sacred rice-gathering sloughs. The tailings of the mine will release sulphuric acid into the pristine waters that feed Lake Superior. OLB was invited to a pow-wow in Hayward, WI in order to help give visibility to the issue.
