‘Earth Day Sing Out’ supports climate activism, local musicians 1 Favorite
The community is invited to join with local climate activists in the “Earth Day Sing Out” from noon to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.
The event is designed to call for an economic stimulus to help prevent future climate crisis.
It is also designed to support local musicians hurting from shelter-in-place. The event is raising money to support seven local musicians to record new music — seven Earth Day songs. Local musicians are hurting from lost gigs, canceled teaching jobs and lost day jobs. Anyone who can lend a hand can donate through PayPal to Davis Independent Music Initiative (Davisindependentmusic@gmail.com). Any money that is received will go directly to musicians. In exchange, they will perform a song for the environment that community members can sing along to at home and share through KDRT and beyond.
This event is sponsored by Climate Strike Davis, in collaboration with Sunrise Movement Davis, Cool Davis, Davis Independent Music Initiative, Mothers Out Front and Extinction Rebellion Sacramento.
