HEARD•NY 2 Favorite
Public arts advocator, Creative Time, and the MTA Arts for Transit and Urban Design (AFT) partnered to present Heard NY, a public art dance and music installation facilitated by artist, choreographer, and fashion designer Nick Cave. Heard NY was created to instill a production of wonder in a quotidian landscape. Beginning on March 25 and ending on March 31st, Vandebilt Hall of New York City's Grand Central Station, was filled with undefined creatures of varying colors, textures, and sizes, that at first, would function as still statues within the hall, were enlivened by professional dancers who performed at various points of the day. While the performances were created to celebrated the centennial of Grand Central Station, the act itself worked as a sort of wonder activism, bringing art and joy in an unsuspecting and often tense location.
