Covenant House has started a ‘Sleep Out’ movement that shines light on the youth homelessness crisis and raises funds for young people who seek shelter. "Covenant House empowers young people to overcome homelessness and trafficking by providing them with safe housing, food and clothing, and relentless support. Sleep Out events are held for people who want to join the movement as they give up their bed for one night in NYC.

Sleep Out participants raise critical funds that keep Covenant House's doors open for the thousands of young people who will come to us seeking shelter each year. The money raised through Sleep Out is put right to work, funding vital services like medical care, legal assistance, education opportunities, vocational training and therapeutic services. And the awareness raised through Sleep Out shines a much needed light on the youth homelessness crisis.

In 34 cities and counting across the United States, Latin America, and Canada, Covenant House aims to provide a continuum of care for youth, which includes job training, education opportunities, legal aid, health care, and mental health counseling as well as birthday parties, movie nights, and community meetings.

Sleep Outs are hosted at Covenant House sites across the U.S. and Canada. Participants have an immersive experience hearing from youth at Covenant House before heading outside to sleep." Participants also have the option to start their own Sleep Out movement within their own communities.
