After J.Cole posted a song that implies that Noname can get her message across to a wider audience if she changes her tone, she releases another song in response. However, instead of explicitly responding to his critique, she uses the controversy to shed light on the death of Black female activist Oluwatoyin Salau, who was killed by her assaulter. Utilizing this spotlight to recognize the life of an organizer who was killed by men she was fighting to protect, Noname took back her power over J.Cole's self-righteous claim that she needs to fix her method of advocacy.

Notes

I think it does a good job of keeping Oluwatoyin's name in our conversations and understand we must do better to protect Black women on all fronts.
