When the boys were sent on a field trip to a hardware store and girls went to get their hair done, this modern dad didn’t get mad, he got hilarious. He wrote a letter notifying the school that there was a rift in the time space continuum somewhere in the school and that his kids had been sent back to 1968. He requested that the administration fix the timewarp immediately. This kind of humor is a hallmark of creative nonviolence.

First cut the banks! In 2012 Bankia declared itself bankrupt and, almost immediately, asked the Government of Spain for €23 billion. The Government accepted, yet that very same week ordered €20,000 million worth of cuts in health and education. It was then that we realized that what they called a crisis was actually a scam. You wouldn’t believe how pissed off we were. So we threw a party, because there is nothing like partying to relieve your anger.

A new media activism program at Duke University was started this year with the aim of helping young womeen excel in blogging about gender issues. The feminist-oriented program is called Write(H)ers and was created by Duke senior, Samantha Lachman and Women's Center Director Ada Gregory. The 23 women involved in the program will meet professional journalists at workshops centered around blogging and gender issues on campus and abroad.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR, 1948) was drafted in an effort to advance human rights on a global level. Article 26 (2) of the UDHR (1949) states that education is intended to develop humanity and increase the respect for human rights, as well as to promote tolerance among nations and maintenance of peace. Yet, the UDHR does not appear to be promoted or recognized.

It launched in the summer of 2009, navigate down the East River, explore the waters of New York Harbor, and docked at several Manhattan piers on the Hudson River before continuing onward. The Waterpod™ demonstrated future pathways for water -based innovations.
